Wireless video streaming from your iPad and iPhone with VogDuo’s Wireless AV Station
Want to wirelessly stream video from your i-device to a TV, but don’t want to buy an Apple TV? VogDuo has a solution for you with their Wireless 2.4G AV Station, which passed through the FCC today.
The Wireless AV Station consists of a transmitter, which connects to the 30 pin port on your iPad, iPhone or iPod, and a receiver, which connects to your TV via composite cable. The transmitter streams wireless video over the 2.4GHz spectrum to the receiver, allowing users to watch content from an i-device on a TV.
Unlike Apple’s AirPlay, which streams video over your home network, the Wireless AV Station sends data directly between the transmitter and receiver. This makes the solution a good choice for, say, a hotel where you don’t have access to the local network.
Unfortunately, the Wireless AV Station’s resolution caps out at 480i. The transmitter also only has a 5 hour battery life, although you can plug it in with a mini USB cable.
