Sony Ericsson’s shiny A8i smartphone hits the FCC, runs OMS 2.0
With nearly 570 million customers, China Mobile is one of the world’s largest telecommunications service providers. And Sony Ericsson wants a piece of that action.
The company passed their A8i smartphone for China Mobile through the FCC today. The device, which sports a similar button layout and form factor as the Sony Ericsson X10, eschews Android for China Mobile’s Open Mobile System 2.0 (OMS 2.0), along with a shiny chrome back. The device, which runs on the TD-SCDMA network, features a 3.5” touch screen and CMMB mobile TV functionality.
