Huawei’s Android-powered U8100 smartphone passes through the FCC
Huawei unveiled its lineup of Android devices at this year’s MWC, and one of these phones, the U8100, passed through the FCC today. Sporting a rather compact, squat form factor, the U8100 rocks a 2.8” QVGA touchscreen, 3.2MP camera, Bluetooth and WiFi. According to Huawei, the U8100 is an entry-level smartphone, although the use of Android gives the device a pretty rich feature set.
Early reports indicated that the U8100 will feature front and rear facing cameras, however user manuals in today’s FCC filings show only a single rear-facing camera. Test reports for the device show support for GSM/EDGE 850/1900, as well as WCDMA band V.
Huawei has announced plans to launch the U8100 in the 2nd quarter of 2010 in Europe. No plans for a US release have been announced.

A busy day for Huawei, as the company passes another phone through the FCC
It’s been a busy day for Huawei on the FCC. The company just passed the G5580 through the FCC, their second phone for the day.
This dual-band phone supports GSM 850/1900 bands, suggesting that we may see this phone in the US. Other than that, there’s not much else that’s notable about this feature phone.
Huawei G3501 GSM mobile phone passes through the FCC
This dual-band GSM 850/1900 phone passed through the FCC today. The device offers a basic suite of mobile phone features, including a still camera, video camera, media player, FM radio, voice recorder, and even an eBook reader.
There’s not much new with the G3501, and there’s not word in pricing or availability. Support for GSM 850/1900 does give this device a decent chance at appearing in the States, most likely under a different brand.
Huawei Fixed Wireless Terminal turns your SIM card into a landline
It’s easy nowadays to dump your landline for a cell phone. The Huawei Fixed Wireless Terminal provides a good option for those of you that may want to occasionally bring the landline back.
The Fixed Wireless Terminal takes your SIM card, and allows you to plug in 2 traditional phones. With support for GSM 850/1900, it allows you to bring your landlines anywhere you have a cell signal.
This isn’t the first device that melds cellular and landlines, but the Huawei Fixed Wireless Terminal does this in a tight, streamlined package.
Huawei’s Centro look-alike
Huawei passed their C6100 mobile phone through the FCC today. The C6100 is a CDMA device which bears a striking resemblance to Palm’s Centro smartphone.
However, there is little chance that this device will make it to the States. Huawei will most likely OEM this device to China Telecom.
Huawei’s G5760 is coming to America?
Huawei passed a decent-looking GSM phone through the FCC today. Called the G5760, this device has a vertical sliding keypad, 2 MP camera, video camera, Bluetooth, media player and FM radio. Overall, not a whole lot new here, but still the device backs a nice suite of features.
This device looks like it may be headed to the US, although it will probably bear a different brand, since Huawei mostly operates as an OEM in the US.
Huawei U3205 – OEM goodness?
Huawei, a Chinese manufacturer of mobile telephony equipment, passed the U3205 through the FCC today. Label-only photos aren’t much to look at, but they reveal a wide smartphone design and support for what looks like MicroSD.
According to the Test Report, this device will run on HSDPA, UMTS, GPRS, GSM and EDGE networks. Bluetooth is also supported.
Huawei tends to sell its products in the US on an OEM basis, so if the U3205 shows up in the states it will most likely bear carrier branding. And, hopefully the carrier that picks up this phone will come to their senses and get rid of the green back.
