Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio–Never charge your iPad case again

image

Keyboard cases for the iPad are great, but who wants to worry about another device to charge?  That’s where Logitech’s Solar Keyboard Folio case comes in.  From what we can tell, this keyboard case uses the same solar charging technology featured in Logitech’s Wireless Solar Keyboard 750 that charges the device in all types of light, including ambient light in an office.

That’s a big improvement over traditional Bluetooth keyboard iPad cases, which require heavy batteries that are quickly sucked dry.  While we don’t have specifics about the Solar Keyboard Folio other than the FCC picture above, we’d assume that Logitech will be able to make this device slimmer and lighter than existing keyboard cases out there.

Case-Mate unveils $300 Titanium case for the Apple iPhone 4

image

Those of you who don’t want to cover your iPhone 4 with a plastic case…and happen to have $300 lying around…should take a look at Case-Mate’s new Titanium case for the iPhone 4.  Made from the same metal that’s used in airplanes, the Titanium case is both light and durable, a big step up over Apple’s Bumper.

The Titanium case is designed to fit snugly around the iPhone 4, practically becoming a part of the phone itself.  Unfortunately, that means the case requires a bit of assembly, but Case-Mate includes a screw driver, screws and button covers with the case for easy installation.

The Titanium Case will be released on June 27th.  It works with AT&T, Verizon and unlocked versions of the iPhone 4.

ZAGG’s iPad 2 Bluetooth Keyboard Case hits the FCC

image

ZAGG’s Bluetooth Keyboard Case for Apple’s original iPad won accolades for its sleek aluminum design, and today the company passed a new version of the case for the iPad 2 through the FCC, pictured above.  The case is manufactured by Logitech, and won FCC approval for its Bluetooth capabilities.

The iPad 2 Keyboard Case is similar to ZAGG’s original case.  However, the iPad 2 case features a magnetic wake sensor that automatically wakes the iPad 2 when its removed from the case.  The case is made of aluminum, and has a stand that can prop up the iPad 2 at a variety of angles.

You can purchase ZAGG’s iPad 2 Keyboard Case for $100 directly from the company.  Orders placed through ZAGG are expected to ship in 1 to 2 days.

Cydle i30 case brings OTA digital TV to the iPhone

image

Cydle wants to turn your iPhone into a portable TV.  The company’s i30 case features an antenna that can receive ATSC digital TV signals, allowing users to watch free, live TV on their iPhone anywhere they can receive an ATSC signal.

The i30 case covers the back and bottom of the iPhone, and attaches to the phone via 30-pin dock connector.  The case has an internal rechargeable battery that provides up to 3 hours of TV viewing.  The i30 also comes with a car kit, including a windshield mount and power adapter, so you can watch TV in the car – ideally when you’re not driving.

To watch TV with the i30, just download and open Cydle’s free MobileTV app.  The app automatically scans the air for available channels, so users don’t have to manually check which channels are available.  Interestingly, the i30 streams video to the iPhone via WiFi connection, not via the iPhone’s 30-pin dock connector.

The i30 seems like a valuable accessory for the iPhone, especially during the NFL season.  Unlike placeshifting systems, the i30 doesn’t require a fast data connection, so you can use the device even in areas where you don’t have five bars.  It is a bit bizarre that the i30 uses your WiFi connection, especially since this means you won’t be able to connect to a WiFi network at use the i30 at the same time.

No word on pricing or a release date for the i30 yet, but the device won FCC approval today, suggesting a launch is soon.  Cycle’s free app is also currently available on the iTunes app store, although it won’t do you much good without the i30 tuner.

iMagnum iPad 2 case works with Smart Cover, is insanely expensive

image

We’ve seen several iPad 2 cases that work with Apple’s Smart Cover, and here’s another one from Piel Frama.  Known as the iMagnum, this case covers the back and sides of the iPad 2, while still allowing Apple’s Smart Cover to cover the iPad 2’s screen or fold into a stand.  The iMagnum is covered in cow-hide leather, with a multi-layer interior made of cushioning, plastic and fabric.

Interested?  You can preorder the iMagnum here, although you will have to wait 3 to 5 weeks for the device to be released.  The iMagnum is also $119 – insanely expensive for an iPad 2 case, even if it is made out of leather.

AViiQ’s Smart Case for the iPad 2 protects what Apple’s Smart Cover doesn’t

image

Anyone who’s been using Apple’s Smart Cover for the iPad 2 knows the cover has one serious flaw – it doesn’t protect the sides or back of the iPad 2.  That’s why we’re so interested in cases such as AViiQ’s Smart Case that complements Apple’s Smart Cover by protecting the easily scratched sides and back of Apple’s latest tablet.

The Smart Case has a plastic exterior that’s available in seven different colors.  The edges of the case are accented with grey plastic, while the case’s back is reinforced with aluminum.  The Smart Case allows Apple’s Smart Cover to attach to the iPad 2 like normal, ensuring that both the front, back and sides of the device are protected.

This isn’t the first case designed to work with Apple’s Smart Cover.  Last week, we took a look at XGear Live’s Enhancer case, which costs $25.  The Smart Case will cost $50 – twice as much as the Enhancer – but it will offer greater protection for the iPad 2.

You can preorder the Smart Case here for $50.  The case comes with a 30 day money back guarantee.  So far, we like how the Smart Case looks, even though we’re a bit hesitant to add additional bulk to the iPad 2.  We’ll have a review of the Smart Case up as soon as we get a review unit in stock.
