New Sony 3G tablet manufactured by Foxconn (SGPT1311) emerges on the FCC

A Sony tablet called the SGPT1311 emerged on the FCC today.  The device won approval for Bluetooth and dual-band WiFi, as well as WCDMA bands II and V.

FCC documents do not reveal much about the SGPT1311 other than the device’s traditional rectangular form factor, below.  The device’s model number has the SGP prefix, just like its ablet P and S Android tablets.  Earlier today, news of a Microsoft Surface-like tablet from Sony leaked on a German news site called Mobiflip.  It’s possible that the SPGT1311 is this new tablet.

Test reports for the SGPT1311 show that the device is manufactured by Hon Hai Precision Ind. Co., Ltd., a Chinese manufacturer better known as Foxconn.  Of course Foxconn is the same company that manufacturers Apple’s iPad, as well as products for Dell and HP.
