GSM Motorola Droid 3 (XT682) hits the FCC, ready to play nice with AT&T
Motorola’s Droid 3 Android slider was released back in July 2011 for Verizon. However, at the time the Droid 3 only offered support for Verizon’s CDMA network, leaving those of us on GSM networks out of luck. Well that may soon change, according to an FCC filing by Motorola that was approved today. According to the filing, a GSM version of the Droid 3, described by its model XT682, is on it’s way. Test reports indicate that the device supports GSM 850/1900 bands, as well as WCDMA bands II and V – the same bands used by AT&T in the United States.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that the Droid 3 will be released by AT&T. However, today’s FCC filing is a good sign that Motorola plans to release a GSM version of the Droid 3 that works on AT&T’s US network.
