Belkin’s Wemo motion sensor hits the FCC, hints at entry into home monitoring market

A new product from Belkin called the Wemo made an appearance on the FCC today.  FCC filings indicate that the Wemo, model number F7C028, is a motion sensor.  Test reports show that the device will support 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, but other than that we don’t know much else at this point.

We’d guess that the Wemo motion sensor is part of a broader product line – after all, what good is a motion sensor by itself?  It seems likely that the Wemo motion sensor is part of a home monitoring system that uses the local network to monitor a user’s home.

Belkin has not made any official mention of Wemo, but today’s FCC filing is a good sign that we’ll be hearing more soon.
