Motorola Droid RAZR unlocked for AT&T, now available for preorder for $600

This week, Motorola unveiled its next flagship device, the Motorola Droid RAZR.  The company will launch the device on Verizon in November for $300.  At the time, Motorola didn’t announce any plans to release the Droid RAZR for other networks.  However, the device’s FCC filings revealed that the Droid RAZR actually supports GSM networks, like the one used by AT&T.

AT&T hasn’t announced any plans to carry the Droid RAZR, but you can get the device unlocked and ready for a GSM SIM card.  Mobile City Online is currently taking preorders for the unlocked GSM version of the Droid RAZR that supports quad-band GSM and WCDMA bands II and IV.  The device will support AT&T’s 3G network, however you won’t have access to LTE networks or T-Mobile USA’s 3G network.

It’s likely that Motorola will later release the Droid RAZR on other carriers, given that the device has built in GSM capabilities.  But if you want to get your hands on a GSM Droid RAZR now it appears that purchasing an unlocked version of the phone is your best bet, although this will cost you $600.
