Motorola’s Photon 4G hits the FCC on its way to Sprint
Today, a Motorola device known as the IHDP56MD1 made its way through the FCC. The device offers support for Sprint’s CDMA/EvDO and WiMAX networks, a good indication that this device is Motorola’s Photon 4G Android smartphone.
Motorola and Sprint unveiled the Photon 4G last month. The device features a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, Android 2.3, 4.3-inch qHD display, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, front (VGA) and rear (8MP) cameras, and a handy kickstand. The Photon 4G supports Sprint’s 4G WiMAX network – and unless Motorola has another WiMAX device up its sleeves, we’re confident that the IHDP56MD1 is in fact the Photon 4G.
The Photon 4G is scheduled for a Summer release, and today’s FCC filing supports that timeframe. No word yet on pricing.
