HTC’s Flyer Android 2.3 tablet is coming to T-Mobile USA
Last month, Best Buy launched the WiFi-only version of HTC’s Flyer Android tablet nationwide. Today, a GSM version of the Flyer appeared on the FCC, above, and it appears to be headed to T-Mobile USA. Known as the PG41120, the T-Mobile Flyer supports GSM 850 and 1900 bands, as well as T-Mobile USA’s WCDMA IV band. FCC filings make no mention of T-Mobile’s 4G network – so at this point it looks like T-Mobile’s version of the Flyer will be 3G only.
We expect that T-Mobile’s version of the Flyer will be similar to the WiFi-only version of the device. That means users can expect a 7-inch screen (1024 x 600), Android 2.3 (with an Android 3.0 upgrade possibly available soon), a 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, front (1.3MP) and rear (5MP) cameras, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. That’s a solid feature set for the 7-inch category, although we’d prefer a dual-core processor, rather than a single-core running at 1.5GHz.
No word on pricing or availability at this point. Sprint’s View 4G tablet, which is similar in design and specs to the Flyer, will cost $400 with a two year contract, and we’d expect similar pricing for T-Mobile’s Flyer.
