WiFi-only Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 hits the FCC, rounds out Samsung’s tablet lineup

Samsung is filling out their Goldilocks tablet lineup with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, which fits nicely between the company’s 7-inch original Galaxy Tab, and 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 10.1.  Today, the WiFi-only version of the Galaxy Tab 8.9, known as the GT-P7310, won approval from the FCC, suggesting that the device will soon make its way to US shores.

FCC filings show that the Galaxy Tab 8.9 will feature dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi, as well as Bluetooth.  Those specs aren’t anything new, of course.  SAR photos also show off the device’s front and rear facing cameras, as well as its two speakers and 8.9-inch screen, above.

Samsung has already announced that the Galaxy Tab 8.9 will feature a dual-core processor, 1280 x 800 screen, up to 32GB of memory, and front (2MP) and rear (3MP) cameras.  The device will also be insanely thin, measuring only 8.6mm at its thickest point.  The Galaxy Tab 8.9 will run Android 3.0, but an upgrade to 3.1 is likely very soon – perhaps even before the device launches.

The Galaxy Tab 8.9 is expected to cost $470 to $570 for WiFi-only models with 16GB or 32GB of storage.  Unfortunately, it does not appear that the device has a microSD slot, so you’ll forced to pay for the 32GB model instead of inserting your own microSD card for a storage upgrade.

Note:  A previous, and now deleted post identified the Galaxy Tab 8.9 as the Galaxy Tab 10.1.  Of course, that was incredibly wrong.  As you can see above, Samsung was nice enough to show the device’s screen size, above.
