Best Buy to launch HTC Flyer Android tablet on May 22nd

Today, Best Buy announced that it will officially release the HTC Flyer tablet this Sunday, May 22nd.  The Flyer is HTC’s first Android tablet, and will feature a 7-inch screen, 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, up to 32GB of internal storage, front (1.3MP) and rear (5MP) facing cameras, Bluetooth and WiFi.  Best Buy will only release the WiFi version of the Flyer – no word yet on a launch date for the 3G version of the device.

One of the Flyer’s more intriguing features is an active stylus, which promises more accurate pen input than a passive stylus.  However, earlier leaks revealed that the stylus will cost $80.  The Flyer will reportedly launch with Android 2.4, with an upgrade to Android 3.0 coming later.

The 16GB WiFi-only Flyer will cost $500 at Best Buy.
