Cisco’s Cius Android tablet hits the FCC, launching in June with OpenPeak roots

Last June, Cisco announced its 7-inch Cius Android tablet.  But since then, we’ve heard little about the device, making us wonder when, or if, the Cius would make it to market.

That all changed today, when the Cius made its first appearance on the FCC.  The device was approved for its 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi capabilities as well as Bluetooth.  FCC filings make no mention of 3G functionality however, suggesting that the Cius will be WiFi-only.

Interestingly, the Cius’ FCC documents were submitted by tablet maker OpenPeak.  This means that OpenPeak is likely taking care of the manufacturing for Cisco.

We still don’t have a release date for the Cius.  However, the device’s confidential FCC filings will be released on June 27th, 2011, indicating that the Cius will be launched before then.
