Review: Targus VuScape Cover/Stand for the Apple iPad 2
Apple’s Smart Cover for the iPad 2 is an incredibly slick, if overpriced, accessory. However, the Smart Cover’s lack of protection for the sides and back of the iPad 2 makes me nervous – I often place my iPad 2 on surfaces that could scratch the device’s back, and I frequently loose my grip on the iPad 2’s slim body, nearly sending the delicate device tumbling to the floor below.
That’s why I prefer folio cases that protect the front, back and sides of the iPad. Additionally, these cases often function as stands, perfect for watching movies on a long plane flight or a slow day at the office.
In those respects, the Targus VuScape Cover/Stand for the iPad 2 is quite attractive. The case does an excellent job of protecting the device, and the VuScape conveniently turns into a relatively sturdy stand.
The downside of the VuScape is its thick form factor. Apple cut a few millimeters of thickness off the iPad 2, but you won’t notice when the device is in the thick VuScape case. It also took some time for me to get used to the VuScape’s button clasps. I found myself fumbling around with the case for several seconds before transforming the VuScape into stand mode.
Priced at $40, the VuScape is attractively priced, and I’d recommend this case as long as you don’t mind the added heft. Check out the review above from our partners at iGear 360, and if you enjoy the vid support us by purchasing from Amazon here: http://amzn.to/idKq9l .
