Creative’s Zen Touch 2 Android-powered iPod Touch “killer” hits the FCC
Android phones are everywhere, but what if you just want an Android-powered music player? That’s the market Creative is targeting with its Zen Touch 2 digital media player, which passed through the FCC today.
The device features a 3.2” TFT resistive touch screen with a 480 x 320 resolution, 8GB to 16GB of storage, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, microSD support up to 32GB, GPS, and 2 megapixel digital camera. The Zen Touch 2 is clearly targeted at the iPod Touch, and Creative does offer a few differentiating features such as microSD card support. However, the Zen Touch 2’s 2 megapixel flashless camera is disappointing, as is Android 2.1.
You can purchase the Zen Touch 2 from Creative’s European site for €189.99 or €209.99, for 8GB and 16GB models respectively. No word as to when the Zen Touch 2 will hit the United States, but today’s FCC filing is a good indication that we will see the device soon.
