Teardown: Cracking open Sony Ericsson’s LiveView Android mini-display

image

The Sony Ericsson LiveView mini display hit the FCC today, complete with internal photos of the device.  It’s quite impressive to see how Sony Ericsson packed a 1.3” OLED screen, Bluetooth and a rechargeable battery into a device that weighs only 15 grams.

The picture, above left, shows the LiveView’s mainboard.  Unfortunately, the device’s components are so small we can’t identify any manufacturer logos, much less part numbers, on the chips.

To the right you can see the LiveView’s tiny rechargeable battery.  It will be interesting to see how long the LiveView can last on a single charge.  We’re hoping that the device will last a couple days on a charge – we’re not really keen on frequently removing our watch for charging.

Check out the rest of the LiveView’s internal photos below:

Hi, the power button on my LiveView is broken and I need to open it up to fix it, would you be able to tell me how you opened the unit without damaging it?
