Apple’s new iPod Touch gets torn down by the FCC
Just minutes after Steve Jobs unveiled the new iPod Touch, the device made an appearance on the FCC. Apple’s FCC filings included a host of internal pictures of the device, giving us a good look at the innards of the new Touch.
The Touch’s main circuit board is below. You can see that the device’s flash memory is provided by a module from South Korean memory manufacturer Hynix. This model only has 8GB of storage, but the Touch is available with up to 64GB of storage.
Next to the Hynix memory module is Apple’s A4 processor. We don’t have a good view of the chip markings on the A4, although the A4 in the iPod Touch appears to be similar in size and appearance to the A4 found in the iPhone 4 and iPad.
