Dell’s S300wi projector rocks WiFi and 3D

imageDell’s impressive S300wi projector passed through the FCC today thanks to the company’s OEM partner Coretronic.  The projector’s resolution measures 1280 x 800 and it can display 1.07 billion colors.  With a light valve measuring 0.65” and a max brightness of 2200 ANSI Lumens, the S300wi can display an image up to 10.83 feet away, measuring up to 294 inches diagonally.

But we’re mostly interested in the S300wi’s wireless capabilities.  The projector can connect wirelessly to projection sources via 802.11 b/g WiFi, allowing users to easily project from their laptops without the hassle of tossing a wire back and forth across a conference table.  The device can also display content directly from a USB flash drive.  If you are in a wired mood, the S300wi accepts HDMI, VGA, S-video and composite inputs.

Another interesting wireless feature of the S300wi is the device’s Interactive Pen.  Slightly slimmer than a Wiimote, the Interactive Pen combines the features of a pointer and wireless mouse, allowing presenters to highlight or manipulate items on the screen.  The Interactive Pen relies on RF for its wireless capabilities.

And for those of you craving 3D, the S300wi supports DLP Link 3D content and glasses.  The projector supports VGA/HDMI resolutions up to 1280 x 720 at 120 Hz.

You can view a demo of the S300wi here, although this video is not in English.  The S300wi seems to have been already launched in Europe, but today’s FCC filing suggests that the projector will soon be coming to the United States.  No word on pricing or a release date.
