Alcatel Lucent’s OT-808A mobile phone sports awkward-looking square clamshell design
Remember that scene in Juno, when Ellen Page is trying to talk on her hamburger phone but the phone’s awkward design makes it difficult for Page to hold the device up to her ear? Yeah, well Alcatel Lucent probably missed that movie.
Today the company passed an oddly shaped phone called the OT-808A through the FCC. And while the device doesn’t actually resemble a hamburger, it does have an uncomfortable looking square-ish design.
On the other hand though, the square shape of the OT-808A did enable Alcatel Lucent to fit a nicely sized keyboard onto the device. And, the device’s screen is a bit wider than most phones, a benefit for browsing the web or reading email. The device also features a media player, stereo Bluetooth and 2 MP camera.
The OT-808A supports GSM 850 and 1900, meaning there’s actually a decent chance that the phone will make it to the States. No word on pricing or availability, however.
