PAPAGO! R6600 – 3D GPS goodness
This 5” touchscreen GPS unit from PAPAGO! passed through the FCC today. Known as the R6600, the device has a respectable 480 x 272 resolution, 2 GB of internal Flash Memory, an FM radio and Bluetooth.
The R6600 has a pleasing interface, that is somewhat reminiscent of BMW’s iDrive. Unlike more basic GPS models, the R6600 displays landmarks in 3D – pretty valuable, particularly if you’re in a crowded city like Kuala Lumpur that is dwarfed by the 1,500 foot tall Petronas Twin Towers (pictured).
The PAPAGO! is manufactured by a Taiwanese company, which does not have a presence in the US. However, North American maps are available for the device through PAPAGO!’s partners.
