Crestron, makers of high end automation equipment, has packed a ton of tech into the TPMC-3X remote control.  The device features a 2.8” color touch screen with a 240×320 resolution, 256 MB of flash memory, a built in speaker and WiFi.

WiFi is an interesting feature here, because it allows the remote to control your home’s electronics simply by connecting to your WiFi network.  That’s a huge plus, since most of us already have a WiFi network up and running.

The TPMC-3X can also stream video from security cameras or other video sources, enabling you to monitor your home right from the remote.  You can also preview TV channels or movies on the remote’s screen.

All in all, the TPMC-3X offers a pretty impressive feature set.  But most likely the remote won’t be cheap.  Most of Crestron’s products are designed for custom install jobs – they’re not really for the DIY crowd or casual AV setups.
