D-Link DIR-412 shares your 3G USB modem

image image

We’ve seen a number of 3G routers pass through the FCC recently, and here’s another one from D-Link.  The device, which is known as the DIR-412, takes a wireless USB modem and shares that connection over 802.11 b/g/n.

This is a great way to make the most of your $60 3G data access plan.  However with the 5GB per month cap on most plans you’ll need to make sure you don’t share your wireless connection with just anyone.

Netbook from ViewSonic hits the FCC

ViewSonic is well known for its monitors, but the company is rapidly expanding into new markets.  Today, the company passed a netbook through the FCC, adding to ViewSonic’s PC line that already includes an all-in-one PC and mini-desktop.

Specs for the netbook, which is currently known as the VNB102, include a 1.6 GHz Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD, 10” screen, 0.3MP camera, integrated graphics and WiFi.

I’m not really sure why ViewSonic would make the move to the netbook market – it’s not exactly a high margin business, and ViewSonic has no market presence to leverage.  Plus, the VNB102 isn’t a particularly unique netbook.

I do have to say, however, that ViewSonic’s VPC08, as uncovered by Engadget, is quite interesting.  Perhaps ViewSonic should focus on this device, rather than spending time playing in the crowded netbook market.

Rubber Bluetooth keyboard is roll-able, cannot be put in oven

image

This Bluetooth keyboard from Chin Fai Electronics company is made of roll-able silicon goodness.  That’s great if you’re taking it on the road and don’t have a lot of room to stow a traditional keyboard.

Although Chin Fai Electronics isn’t exactly a well-known brand in the US, I’d bet that we see this keyboard in the States under a generic brand sometime soon.

Do note, however, that according to Chin Fai, this keyboard cannot be put in the oven, or “putted on the fire to teast.”  That’s right, just because this keyboard is rubber doesn’t mean you can use it in a fire.

Oh, and don’t take a knife to it either, ok?
