Finally, a customer paging system that doesn’t suck

I hate it when you go to the Cheesecake Factory when there’s an hour long wait, and all they do is give you the little beeping and blinking coaster and tell you to stay within 20 feet of the restaurant.  How does that really help?  It allows you to wait outside in the cold, I suppose, but really you need to stay pretty close to the restaurant for a long, boring hour.

Well, RCL Korea has a better solution with their RCL-R700 GuestCall paging system.  Like conventional pagers, the RCL-R700 will beep when your table is ready.  But unlike others, this device will tell you when you’re going out of the pager range.

It’s a basic feature, but one that allows you to roam around a mall or shopping center, without worrying if you’re being paged.  That can make a long wait at a restaurant much more interesting and productive, and I hope these pagers make they way to the US soon.

  • I hope they get rid of those pagers all together! Everyone has cell phones now, why not just send you a text message when your table is ready? That way you can walk around anywhere you want without having to worry about the range.

Disclaimer: text message paging is what we do :)
