Samsung SGH-A797 makes an appearance on the FCC
First spotted on Craigslist (from Engadget Mobile) in August, the Samsung SGH-A797 has finally made its way to the FCC. All Samsung’s FCC approval submission reveals is a label shot, but the shots from Craiglist reveal a slide out keypad, proprietary Samsung OS, and AT&T branding.
DJ Hero controller mixes it up on the FCC
RedOctane, Inc., owners of the “Hero” game franchise, passed their DJ Hero controller through the FCC today. Scheduled for release on October 27, 2009, DJ Hero takes the popular Guitar Hero concept and puts it on a turntable.
This seems like a pretty innovative idea to me. According to the DJ Hero website, this turntable allows you to mix and scratch over 100 songs, including tracks from the Black Eyed Peas, 50 Cent, Justice, Marvin Gaye, Nirvana, Beastie Boys and N.E.R.D. I don’t know how you turn this into a game, but it sounds fun in any case.
Label only pics of the Samsung SCH-W900 emerge
Label-only pics of the Samsung SCH-W900 emerged on the FCC authorization site today. According to the test report, this GSM device with Bluetooth goes by two names, the SCH-W900 and SPH-W9000. The SCH model prefix is typically used by Samsung for Korean phones, which makes sense since the FCC label is only in Korean. However, the SPH prefix is used by some US GSM phones – primarily those offered by MVNOs like Helio – so there is a chance we’ll be seeing this device in the states.
ooma’s new look Telo base station
Last week we brought you pics of ooma’s new HD handset. Today, ooma passed its new Telo base station through the FCC, revealing a new look for ooma products.
You can connect traditional phones to the ooma base station, or use the company’s HD handset. For those of you with unreliable Internet connections, you can even use a landline as a backup.
D-Link DIR-615E1 – 300 Mbps goodness
The D-Link DIR-6151 made an appearance on the FCC today. This wireless N router has a max throughput of 300 Mbps and 4 LAN ports. The DIR-6151 relies on an Atheros transceiver. Other than that, there’s not much else to see here.
Motorola’s CPEi35775 gets WiFi Certified
The Motorola CPEi35775 received certification from the WiFi Alliance yesterday. With WiFi and 3.5G voice and data, the CPEi35775 gives you a bunch of connectivity options in a single device.
I’m not exactly sure what “3.5G” constitutes from Motorola’s certification, but it appears that this device may use WiMAX. Unfortunately, the CPEi35775 only supports 802.11b/g, not wireless-n.
Elle GlamPhone – Trendy goodness
Everyone knows print media is hurting. Elle magazine is combating this trend by moving into new markets, including, surprisingly, the mobile phone market.
The Elle GlamPhone pictured above bears Elle branding and a fashionable pink and silver patter. The keypad is reminiscent of the RAZR, complete with a brushed aluminum finish.
The GlamPhone has a basic feature set which includes Bluetooth, camera and, ugh, WAP browsing.
It’ll be interesting so see Elle’s efforts are successful here. It seems unlikely that there is a huge market for magazine branded phones. Plus, if you’re looking for a trendy device, I think you’re getting an iPhone.
ZTE-G A661 – just another GSM mobile
Chinese telecom equipment vendor ZTE slipped the ZTE-G A661 through the FCC today. The phone offers a basic suite of features, including a camaera, Bluetooth, SD card slot and FM radio. Unfortunately, the ZTE-G A661 doesn’t have a 3.5mm headphone jack – you’re forced to use a USB headset.
Online gaming goodness with Sony’s Playstation Bluetooth headset
Sony passed a Bluetooth headset through the FCC today, through Shenzhen-based manufacturer Namtai Electronics. The device doesn’t do anything fancy, but it has decent looks and sports the Playstation logo.
